The English Department administers the creative writing major, a program ranked among the top five in the nation. Students take four writing workshops, in which they draft, analyze, and revise manuscripts in a small class setting.

High School Preparation:

• As much writing experience as possible

• Reading and writing courses in poetry, drama, short fiction; modern and contemporary literature and poetry courses
