Students in this program reach a high level of math competency and may specialize in general engineering or a specific engineering field. Examples of the latter include reliability, applications of probability and statistics, computational techniques, deterministic modeling, and computer science. Graduates may use their abilities to solve engineering problems for which there are no standard solutions.

High School Preparation:

• 1/2 unit trigonometry required; one year physics, calculus and chemistry recommended

Major Requirements:

major requires math beyond basic calculus

major requires upper-division lab sciences

Careers:

• engineering consultant to industry
• graduate work in applied math, computer science, areas in engineering or business administration
• medical school
