The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences prepares students for careers which have traditionally provided people with food, fiber, and shelter. Technology and the current demands of a global food economy have expanded the borders of agriculture and created careers in natural resources, environmental sciences, and family and consumer resources. Disciplines such as plant and animal genetics, microbiology, biosystems engineering, pathology, retailing, nutrition, human development, and management offer challenging professions. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences also offers preparation for medical and veterinary careers.
The college offers small classes, academic and career advice,
personalized instruction, and in-class experience with computers.
Internships might include working in a zoo, cattle ranch,
pharmaceutical or
biomedical research company, race track, large retail organization, or golf
course.
Careers might include: teaching, preserving wildlife, managing a racetrack,
counseling troubled families, or developing new food products. Managing
water systems, conducting biomedical research, managing a retail clothing
store, or creating genetically engineered foods are other possibilities.
