Accounting involves the collection, organization,
and presentation of financial information for
effective decision-making. The program trains
students in accounting,
corporate finance, and business policy. Some
states require a five-year program in order to sit for
the Uniform CPA Examination; a master's degree
in accounting may be necessary for some
careers.
High School Preparation:
- Entrance Requirements
- English, Algebra I and II, plane
geometry required.
- It is recommended that math be taken throughout all four years of high
school advancing through pre-calculus or calculus.
Major Requirements:
- Major requires math beyond general education requirements, but not
beyond basic calculus; includes Business Math 1, Business Math 2 and
statistics. Transfer students (other than those at Pima Community
College) should take one semester of brief calculus AND one semester of
finite mathematics.
